Granite worktop protection treatment?

Would appreciate any recommendations. We have been advised we should apply every year. Thanks in advance.

Hi we have granite workshops in our kitchen fitted around 15 years- we have never treated them but are very careful and always put things in mats etc

Many thanks. The fitters didn't say we should treat them but after a year there are what look like water marks including a large one on our splashback and the company are now saying we should have treated after 12 months.
