Limescale balls

Has anyone tried these in their dishwasher/washing machine?? I don’t se how they actually work…?

I’ve put them in our kettles, the steel £1.50 ones. Seem to work and we have very hard water. If it’s those type they are cheap
enough to try, but I would have thought you may need two for the volume of water.
