now i can get to the u-bend cos the pedestal is firmly wedges/secured in front of it and u-bend is right inside pedestal............how the F*%^ do i clear it and get rid of the smell???

Simplest way is with a plunger. Remember to block the overflow.

Do not pour any nasty chemicals down the drain, as they are likely to just back up AND MAKE THINGS WORSE.

While you're there pick up somethng nasty to clean the drain after you've cleared the blockage.
