Holes in bed linen

Bought this set for £75 from JL May 2019 and it has tiny holes on every hem now. 100% cotton, 200 TC.

I’ve never owned bedding that has done this. Can anyone advise:

Is this normal for cotton and to be expected?
What type of bedding would not do this?

Would like to get something that lasts a bit longer if possible.

That doesn’t seem normal. It’s worn badly.

Is it catching on something on the bedframe?

That is strange but I have bedding that has worn a bit like this, a cotton set that took ten years, and a linen set that wore surprisingly quickly at the edges of the pillowcases after about a year. Linen is normally tough so it was unusual.
Do you wash it alone, or could a belt or anything have rubbed it in the washer, or in a tumble drier ?

This seems the most likely explanation.

The holes go along every hemline the whole way along the bedding.
It is on a divan bed, all padded.
I wash it alone, not with anything else, and haven’t had these holes in any other items.
I just thought it was how cotton goes but then remembered my mum having bedding that lasted decades!

I love the colour. But it looks like it’s been rubbing on something.

Hmm. It is clearly getting abraded somehow. Most probably in your washing machine or tumble drier.

New bedding arrived today, I just haven’t had time to research and buy any so this is going now.
This is definitely the only linen or clothing that has any sign of this type of wear, all the other sets are fine.
A mystery.

Do you have moths? Looks like it could be moth damage
