How do I get crispy towels soft again?

I have some towels that have gone all hard and crispy. Is there any way of making them soft again. Note I don't have a tumble dryer.

dry them on a very windy washing line.. and give them a good shake after wards

while you must not use fabric conditioner on towels soap nuts make fabrics softer

add a cup of vinegar to the final rinse water - will remove any last traces of detergent and honestly they won't smell. (white vingear by the way)

iron them with lots of steam.....sorry - I know ironing towels sounds like madness, but if you don't tumble them and you want them soft...it's the only way

NannyL,

Why can't you use fabric conditioner?

FunkyGlassSlipper · 29/01/2008 08:08

I think fabric conditioner stops them absorbing water properly and builds up on the fabric too.

Blimey. Who knew.

Oops sorry - hoarsewhisperer already said that .

I've found our towels more absorbent since I started using fabric conditioner on them (I was always told not to as well).
