I am entirely clueless on this. What kind of wash do I need? Do I need some kind of waterproof reproofer too?

I bought some from Amazon wash with the cleaner then rewash with the waterproofer. Nikwax you can get in any of the technical stores. As well.

Nikwax is brilliant. Their Tech Wash is what I use for my waterproof coat and it keeps it waterproof. Not too expensive either. Make sure you use it according to the instructions though.

I haven't had to re-waterproof it yet but they also do a re-proofer called TX direct you use in the washing machine.

Nikwax Techwash. If it's a breatheable fabric (Goretex, hyvent, H2Off, H2No etc) then follow the instructions about applying direct heat to reactivate the membrane eg by ironing or tumble drying.

Thanks everyone.

Check with the maker.

Granger's Performance Wash and Granger's Clothing Repel are recommended by Protected Species, as is NikWax.

Nikwax tech wash as others have said.
