Coffee table books

Read about this but never seen it in real life. If you have them, what books are they and do you leave them on top of coffee table all the time? What do you do if you bring tea/coffee, set mugs on top or move books?

I have a couple of cookbooks and an art book on the shelf below the table top, and a single copy of an old book on the top, with coasters and a candle and that gubbins. I'd have them all on the surface if it was bigger, but alas, it is not.

If things come up in conversation then the cookbooks get leafed through. They're mainly there so they're in easy sofa reach for me though. The one on the top is just a book version of an ornament, it's really old and pretty and quite small and the subject of it is relevant to us.
