4 slice toasters - would you recommend yours?

I need a 4 slice toaster. Can't faff on with over designed ones that are liable to malfunction. It needs to have a removable crumb tray, automatic pop up and take wide slices of bread.

Can anyone recommend a product that's reliable, doesn't cost over £130ish and is simply designed?

I love my Dualit 4-slice, and some are available (John Lewis) for around £100. Nothing to go wrong on them really.

We have a dualit 4 toaster. It’s great! Been going for years. You can lift the bread up to see how it’s toasting too which is cool.

I have a Breville I’m happy with, but with your budget I’d look at Dualit.

Rocketclub · 05/10/2022 17:17

I have a morphs Richards it has been going 10 years now and as good as new

jellybeanteaparty · 05/10/2022 17:23

Duelt 26 years and going strong

AssumingDirectControl · 05/10/2022 17:23

I’ve got one from The Funky Appliance Company. Awful name for a business, but great toaster. It’s a beast but it evenly toasts anything.

lickenchugget · 05/10/2022 17:29

Dualit… hate to say it but the best toaster we’ve had. Expensive but worth it.

UWhatNow · 05/10/2022 17:30

Another vote for Dualit. Best toaster ever.

CeeceeBloomingdale · 05/10/2022 17:30

I’ve tried better ones but I find Asda own brand is the only one that fits my bread!

Our Sage one is fab, loads of useful features including “a bit more”

Hohofortherobbers · 05/10/2022 17:38

I like our dualit, it was clearance, £50 I think

HappyAsASandboy · 05/10/2022 17:51

Dualit 4 slice. Mine is still going strong after 13 years. It did develop a fault, which YouTube told be how to fix with a £11.64 part from Dualit. I the process of fixing it, the original part started working again and has gone for another 3 years since. I stashed the £11.64 part for the future!

Dualit are British made, very simply engineered so there's not a lot to go wrong, and they sell the pets so you can fix them yourselves with the help of a screw driver.

FixTheBone · 05/10/2022 18:06

cuisinart for me.

seems relaible, probably the most compact 4-slice i could find and the only one that physically fits in our kitchen.

LadyHermione · 05/10/2022 18:22

I don’t want to jinx it, but I’ve had this for over five years, and it’s still going strong. De Longhi

LadyHermione · 05/10/2022 18:28

Apparently we’ve had it twelve years. 🙄

SteveHarringtonsChestHair · 05/10/2022 18:35

Another Dualit here - it’s lasted longer than my 14 year marriage and subsequent 9 year relationship, so well over 20 years old! It’s had a replacement element and a new timer switch during its lifetime but we’d got through 3 or 4 cheap ones prior to this so it’s probably paid for itself many times over now! I was hesitant to spend so much but it’s definitely a case of “you get what you pay for”.

RomainingCalm · 05/10/2022 19:13

We have the De Longhi a PP linked to. 12 years and still going strong.

Cynderella · 05/10/2022 20:23

Another Dualit - over 25 years old. Would replace with same.

Chuckiegg · 06/10/2022 15:43

Dualit 18 years and still great.

Craftybodger · 06/10/2022 15:59

Yup, another Dualit here, at least 20 years old.

Doggydarling · 07/10/2022 01:38

Mine is from Aldi, its their own brand but from about 18 years ago, I bought one and boyfriend also got one, we're married now so one is in the attic, it's used daily, never gave trouble and was cheap to buy.

Blueuggboots · 07/10/2022 02:01

Dualit are amazing!

Nat6999 · 07/10/2022 02:15

Mine is Breville, I don't pay loads for them so I can change kettle & toaster if I want.

FrankTheThunderbird · 07/10/2022 02:18

Mines a Tesco own brand. Cost about £20 6 years ago and is great.
