Just realised we filled up Thread 2 without a way to link to this one, can’t see that anyone else has started one?

I did drop back the borrowed boots, go me!

didn’t tackle the umbrella pot/dumping ground though

@EllieQ that is a good realisation to make, and shows you how emotions are linked to stuff, which is what makes it so tricky to get rid of things. You sound like you’re getting back on track with your system. What ever works for you, as long as it works!

ran a very long way yesterday in a lot of mud. So only decluttered the end of some bubble bath that’s been waiting for my to use up for a while.

I'm assuming items from the garden count too? Ours had so many random and now gross things floating around. I did a bit of weeding yesterday and out went:

3 gross kids toys
1 lonely gardening glove
mouldy door mat
2 used-up bubble wands
2 broken pegs

Not much but along with general rubbish and little weeding garden looks much better. I have a total of 56 since joining. Wish I had joined earlier as I cleared out a lot of stuff the first week of Jan when I was on leave but hey, maybe I'll still get to 2023 items.

LivingInaBuildingSite · 30/01/2023 09:58

Yey someone came and collected an old wardrobe we didn’t need anymore, was in the hallway, now gone!

Morning everyone!
Just dropped off two bags to the charity shop that I'd forgotten were in the car.
6 more bags in my room waiting for ds to drop off on his day off on Wed. Might try and fill another couple of bags before then as he's going to go to the warehouse drop off so I should make the effort to make it worth his while Grin

ImJustMadAboutSaffron · 30/01/2023 13:59

I sorted out all my DVDs at the weekend. Threw some out (in a charity bag to be precise). Took some out of the cardboard cases to save space, they got recycled. A large box and a paper bag of paper and card recycled.

A bag of old clothes and a handbag has gone to M&S "Schwop" this weekend.

I sorted out one shelf of my kitchen cupboards and threw old packets of pulses and rice with a sell by date of 2020.

The house still resembles a warehouse, but I am getting there. It's my going-into-spring project, so eight more weeks on it.

EmmaEmerald · 30/01/2023 14:02

wow, everyone has had such a productive weekend.

re the bathroom stuff, I can see how people end up with stuff from every fragrance!

My boxes have arrived so I will get some stuff done when I log off from work.

PuttingDownRoots · 30/01/2023 14:46

Getting back to this. I've been inspired by Sort Your life Out!

Today... Bathroom
3 unopened bottles of kids shampoo put aside for food bank
Opened bottles of stuff that won't be used binned. The 20 bottles of stuff (shampoo, shower gel etc) lined up tobuse instead of new bottles
Random plastic pole binned.

ImJustMadAboutSaffron · 30/01/2023 14:51

I found three sachets of Blink! cat food with a use by date of the end of September 2022. I gave them to the cats ... no ill effects.

SydneyCarton · 30/01/2023 15:32

3 packages returned to Amazon
1 advent calendar taken apart, recycled and remaining two chocolates eaten!
1 selection box also broken down and recycled (still 3/4 bars of chocolate left but they've been put into a general sweet bowl so space has still been cleared)
1 packet of banana angel delight BBE Oct 2021 (quite tempted to still eat this TBH, but I don't think anyone else likes it and I can't manage the whole thing!)
89/2023

ImJustMadAboutSaffron · 30/01/2023 17:16

@SydneyCarton The cats haven't finished their advent calendar yet! I kept forgetting to open it each day. Mind you the previous Christmas Harry opened every bloody window on 1 December!

ememem84 · 30/01/2023 18:59

Money in for duplo. The person revoluted it to me. I still have the duplo. Waiting for pick up.

PuttingDownRoots · 30/01/2023 19:02

Filled a box with books. Only problem is.... I can't move it!

But now have organised bookcases with four empty shelves which I have plans for.

ememem84 · 30/01/2023 19:30

Duplo picked up. Woop.

DorritLittle · 30/01/2023 20:08

Decluttered a cupboard!

Pineappleapple · 30/01/2023 20:17

Jumping in to join you if that's ok. Used to post when it was get rid of one thing a day, which definitely helped me keep going. I have still been keeping it up and have got rid of some things I never thought I would, so just got to keep going. A trip to the tip today as it was kind of on my way, and a bag dropped off at the charity shop. I do a bag at a time so I can get rid on foot (with the pram!), rather then driving and trying to park nearby.
I have looked at a load of old gift cards recently and decided to spend the time checking the balances - shame most were empty! So they have gone and one earmarked for a trip. Couple will take some faffing to use up.

EllieQ · 30/01/2023 20:47

Forgot more one thing decluttered at the weekend - a swim nappy cover. I’d found three while clearing out the bags of random clothes, posted them for free on FB, and one was collected within the hour! No interest in the others yet.

Today I returned a carrier bag of Rainbows uniform to the group, as DD has now moved up to Brownies. Also had to empty the cupboard under the sink due to a leak, so had a quick sort through and got rid of five samples of fabric condition that I won’t use. DH can fix the leak, but needs a part, so the cupboard is still empty and there’s a bucket under the pipes 🙈

ememem84 · 30/01/2023 22:26

Whilst ds was in the bath I sorted the bathroom cabinet. Decanted some of the medicines into one box. So all the paracetamols together etc in the one box. All plasters together. The only things I haven’t done are the cold and flu tablets. Because some we had to buy in Aussie and I’m not sure if they’re the same thing. Didn’t have my glasses to hand to check ingredients.

anyhoo. Cleared some space. We have a small basket on the top of the bathroom cabinet of half used up travel toiletries which I’m making an effort to go through.

DH had a load of Milton brown black pepper shower gel minis too which jve decanted into his half empty big bottle in the shower.

IndianSummer78 · 31/01/2023 00:49

Binned a pair of slippers today which the sole started falling off of them. Total is 19.

Pigtailsandall · 31/01/2023 07:57

I'm decluttering while cleaning - trying to be very critical of stuff and not just put it back blindly. I'm taking 2 excess mugs to the office kitchen today because we are chronically short of them - plus a box of teabags we didn't like. Another small pile of shredding too. Also 2 magazines and a colouring book to recycling and a nearly-dead plant in compost.
64. I think I counted I'd need 9 a day to reach 2023 so probably won't get to it!

Vinorosso74 · 31/01/2023 09:34

Managed some decluttering while making a cake yesterday. Finished off a big tub of cocoa powder and some icing sugar.
Started a new charity shop bag with a dress of mine and an outgrown sweatshirt of DD.
Took textile recycling bag with me when I went to the gym this morning to find it full. Felt a bit stupid walking into the gym with it.

EmmaEmerald · 31/01/2023 17:15

I did some packing last night and at lunchtime.

maybe I’m doing this too early. And I’m surprised how sad I feel. I’ve decided that two pieces of furniture are going to live in mum’s garage.

perhaps I would be better doing a last minute job on the actual packing? I’m confused at the mo.

TidyClutterIsStillClutter · 31/01/2023 18:31

Several pieces of cardboard packaging now in recycling bin.

Decanted jars of home-made applesauce into plastic bags for the freezer. Two of the jars are now in the bin. Also massive mayo jar that took up so much space and seemed to be bottomless. Emptied enormous storage tub by putting things where they belong. Keeping tub just in case, but it probably could go.

Otherwise, absolutely stuck.

EmmaEmerald · 31/01/2023 18:58

Tidy is there anything we can do to help your stuckness?

PuttingDownRoots · 31/01/2023 20:02

5glasses in the donate box, plus a broken one in the bin.

DD1 has announced she wants to sort her books tomorrow.

Pineappleapple · 31/01/2023 20:52

Tidy - hope you get unstuck soon.

A few outs today, annoyingly starting a new bag for the tip after just having gone yesterday. A pair of trainers which let water in, some coasters, and just a few bits I would normally hesitate over. Definitely helpful to do a bit and build momentum.
