Does this mean I need a new fridge?!

I've had my fridge for 9 years. Some yellow liquid has started leaking out of it, from the inside where the shelves are (not in huge quantities). Also, I can't be sure of this, but it seems to be on, in the sense of making a noise, more than it used to be.

What could be causing the yellow liquid?! Should I buy a new fridge?! I don't want to buy one unless necessary, but I also don't want one that uses more electricity than it should, which it seems this one might be doing!

Thanks for thoughts on this!

Is it just running out of the drain at the back and along the shelves? Have you tried unblocking & cleaning that?
Maybe get a fridge thermometer and check the temperature, defrost the freezer compartment, pull the fridge away from the wall (there is a minimum clearance needed) and hoover the dust off the back and then see how it is.

Thank you so much for your reply! I've now cleaned the hole it was coming out of with cotton buds, so will see whether that helps!

It was coming from this hole, which I’m guessing is the drain?!

Yes that’s the drain. It generally has a stick in it, with a little hook on the end, to help clean it.
Hope it improves things for you.

I had same thing. Water kept popping in the bottom of my fridge. In fact that drain bit had become blocked. I bought a gadget off Amazon specifically and put it down the tube. It cleared the blockage and no issues since.
