I rent a little farm cottage and the carpet was brand new when I moved in! The carpet is really cheap, thin wool carpet. Fast forward two years.. having a new born (who is now two) there are parts of it that just look awful! For example, there is a patch where my daughter projectile vomited on. I chucked loads of warm water and washing up liquid on to soak, then left it whilst I sorted my daughter and myself out! I didn't realise that doing this would causing 'browning' where the underlay gets wet and draws all the dirt. So what I'm left with is a horrible brownish stains on the grey carpet! This has happened in a few places... is there anyway to clean this? Can it be rectified? If it was a more expensive carpet I think it would be easier but the carpet it so crap, I'm worried it will be stained like this forever.
