Dear Mumsnet experts. Please can you let me know the best way to get Vaseline marks off beige chinos? My usual washing up liquid fix hasn't worked. Thank you!

Assuming they're cotton and can withstand heat, I'd pour boiling hot water straight from the kettle over the affected area. Massage in more detergent, then repeat with the boiling water until the marks are gone.

You could also try soaking in a detergent and water solution made up with boiling water.

I've done the hot water trick successfully with vaseline and (arguably worse) candle wax!

Iron with kitchen roll on top and then a tea towel to get some of it out, then rub swarfega with a bit of water on what's left then washing machine.

Apply neat washing up liquid to the area, work it in then rinse under hot water. You may have to do it twice.

Wash with liquid detergent on the hottest wash the fabric can withstand.

Oops, just actually read your post properly - washing up liquid didn't work!

Elbow Grease is pretty good, then a hot wash.
