Vanish Crystal White or Gold?

For whitening - I’ve just looked at DS’s school shirts and they are actually pretty grey. No stains, so just want something to keep them white.

Can’t tell from the Vanish website whether Gold actually does any whitening, or if it is just a stain remover.

Napisan is cheaper and works as well as anything, I think.
