Has anyone got a bio ethanol fire?

In view of the coming winter, I would like to replace my electric fire for something cheaper to run. The bio ethanol fires look really cosy and, after the initial outlay, cheaper to run.
Any advice?

We have one only because there’s no chimney breast or option to put one in. I have zero experience of an electric fire but compared to gas and conventional it’s not as warm. You have to buy the most expensive fuel out there to avoid it absolutely stinking but even that smells a little bit. In short it’s ok, I can’t compare to electric but if you can get a normal fireplace or woodburner, do that instead because there’s no comparison.

I don't have a chimney so a wood or coal burner isn't an option. The electric fire really throws out heat, but it's £££ to run so I'm loathe to keep it.
