How to clean sofa upholstery?

We have a dark grey fabric sofa -
Fortunately the colour hides the dirt! However I wiped it with a damp cloth yesterday and was shocked at how surrey the cloth then showed. The cushion and fabric is fixed and not removable.

What is the best way to give the sofa a jolly good clean?

I tend to use Dr Beckermann's upholstery cleaner which is great. I have recently seen a cleaning "hack"'that suggests dissolving a dishwasher tablet in hot water soaking a microfibre cloth in the mix and then wiping your sofa down with that - disclaimer I've not tried it!

Dr Beckmans is great, for any tough stains I mix Ace Stain remover (green bottle not the white bleach one) with comfort/lenor and that usually does the trick, is there any way of removing the covers and washing?
