Help with this HIDEOUS stain?

Did something really stupid the other night and kicked over had a can of Diet Coke onto the light grey carpet! I tried to soak up the mess with kitchen towel and then put carpet stain removal down. But I made the fatal mistake of not dabbing and instead just seem to have spread a small stain out into an even bigger area. Stupid thing to do!

Can anyone suggest a remedy to get this up and off the carpet now? The carpet is bleach clean, if that's useful info!

What stain remover have you used? I’ve had good results from using Shout. Plus Vanish has some very food products.

And please don’t worry, if I can get a curry stain out DS’s brand new cream chinos your can definitely do this.

Yes, I used Shout and I can see it's worked in the middle (where the stain originally was) so I guess I should do the edges but blot, rather than rub? It was a stain the size of a teacup to start...I've just made it 4 times worse. BlushBlush

i Would just rub now, if blotting the edges doesn’t work. The bleach clean carpets are very hard wearing so rubbing won’t damage it . Keep using the shout according to the directions and you’ll be fine. I promise you’ll be able to get this out!

Get some Dr Beckman carpet stain remover

GiltEdges · 16/08/2022 13:03

We ended up with a similar stain on a cream carpet after DS knocked a drink over at his grandma’s recently. Hired a Rug Doctor for half a day and used the hand attachment, got rid of it completely. Not cheap, but none of the other off-the-shelf stain removers worked for us.

HoofWankingSpangleCunt · 16/08/2022 13:03

If the dr Beckmann is the one with the brush I can also give that a thumbs up. I got coffee out of a cream carpet and you'd never know. (having an encyclopaedic knowledge of stain removers comes with the territory of being a "Walking Disaster".

That's the one - I've used it a lot on cream carpets too because I'm an idiot who thought it'd be a nice colour to have with a dog and toddler Grin

A second for the Dr Beckmann's. It's very good at removing just about any stain we throw at it

Stichintimesavesstapling · 16/08/2022 13:13

Put a rug over it.

abovedecknotbelow · 16/08/2022 13:16

Hire a carpet cleaner or borrow a Vax of someone if you know anyone who has one. We bought a Vax as it was cheaper than hiring a cleaner for a couple of days, brilliant thing.

allboysherebutme · 16/08/2022 22:28

Dr Beckmann carpet stain remover comes with added brush brilliant stuff. X

AdoraBell · 16/08/2022 22:34

That carpet looks similar to mine. I haven’t spilt Diet Coke but for coffee/tea drips and grubby marks from dogs I use warm water with washing up liquid and a micro fibre cloth.

Hope you find an effective solution.

CTR16783 · 16/08/2022 23:31

We swear by Asda carpet spray cleaner. It's got out red wine, blackcurrant squash, baby food, baby sick, curry sauce, pasta sauce & mud. We rent & the place has cream carpets everywhere & we have 3 kids, we try our best but things do get spilt. We make a special trip to Asda every so often just to buy a few bottles.

Agree with others. Dr Beckman with the brush attachment. Just make sure you only
pierce the seal inside - rather than ripping it off like I do, and the liquid floods out when you scrub. 🙄

Sugaspunsista · 17/08/2022 00:17

Honestly I am a diet coke addict and spill it alot. Just thoroughly soak the whole stain with warm water then blot with a towel

Nowgimmeagin · 17/08/2022 00:27

Dr. Beckman all the way, amazing stuff

HoofWankingSpangleCunt · 17/08/2022 09:39

How did you get on Op?

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 17/08/2022 09:42

Warm water and dab of Fairy and rub. Put some elbow grease in to , it won't magically disappear 😉

ICouldHaveCheckedFirst · 17/08/2022 09:47

I spilt a tub of tomato salsa on a beige carpet. Tried every stain removal method, then paid £100 for a professional spot clean. Expensive jar of salsa! After that the stain was very faint, but a year on, it's faded completely.

myusernamewastakenbyme · 23/08/2022 20:24

Years ago my son spilt a whole bowl of tomato soup onto my cream carpet....i soaked the worst up and then went over and over with a steam mop....i got it completely stain free.

yesiatethesweets · 24/08/2022 08:39

We had a tub of bbq dip knocked over once on a cream carpet. Tub wasn't discovered until a few hours later. Tried everything including Dr Beckmann, carpet washer, stain devils etc. and as a last resort used Domestos bleach spray. Worked brilliantly!
