Robot vacuum

Please help! 😂 I've just taken the plunge and bought a robot vacuum... The only problem is it runs off the WiFi/ app on 2.4ghz and my bt hub will not allow me to split the 2.4/5ghz connections. I really wanted to be able to use the app/ smart routines element so looks like my present will be going back.

Does anyone have any recommendations for a robot vacuum that is Alexa/app operated and that works on 5ghz? I'm going bog eyed looking. Floors are mainly laminate/vinyl with two rugs. If it mops that's a bonus. Price wise I'd rather it was under £200.

What router is it? Sometimes it is hidden deep in the settings.

Could you get a cheap second router to run 2.8?

It would be cheaper than getting a roomba i7...

2.4 obviously

Try this link: www.bt.com/help/broadband/how-do-i-change-the-wi-fi-channel-on-my-bt-hub I had the same problem with my EE router but managed to change it.

Same problem here 2 weeks ago. My husband managed to work it out. It was an absolute pain but honestly so worth it.

I've been on to bt help and it's a smart hub 2. Absolutely no way of splitting the connection as it isn't designed to allow it. Something about it being part of the complete WiFi thing. I even turned the 5ghz setting off and just had it as 2.4ghz but that didn't work either and none of the other things we have seemed to like that either. 🤦🏼‍♀️

The robot vacuum is so so good - I’d change the router. We don’t use the one that came with our package (Virgin).

After much swearing last night I managed to link it to the 2.4ghz once I turned the 5ghz off. Will see how that affects speeds and will turn the 5ghz back on in a couple of days. It doesn't seem to have drastically affected anything doing that so fingers crossed!

Once it's connected it shouldn't mind the 5ghz being on. Enjoy! (And make sure your cables are out of reach!)
