How long should it take me to clean my 2bed ….

To a reasonable standard, an average each week?… two adults, one primary aged child living at home.

Spent most of the day decluttering and noticing how dirty things are. On the surface, ok, but on closer look - not. Just turned over my draining board mat - starting to get mould, just seen chairs have loads of dirty marks on, the door ditto. I know! I know!!!

Clearly I’m crap at cleaning, how did I not see this before, and wondered if it was me under estimating how long I should spend cleaning.

‘Should’ as in, doesnt need to be meticulous, eat off the floor - but - the average person wouldn’t walk in and think - yuk! I could invite someone over for a cuppa and wouldn’t need to pray they don’t ask to use the loo …

The trick is not to aim to clean it all in one day but do a certain proportion each day - I like The Organised Mum Method as (apart from the routine wash up/clean counters) you get the weekends off. I used to hate it when it felt like I spent my entire weekend cleaning - now I properly relax!

We are 2 adults and 1 dc in 2 bed too. I reckon I do 30 min a day (kitchen, dc room, bathroom mainly. It's all done as I go though not in one go) plus an hour each me (dusting and bathroom deep) and dh (hoover/mop entire house) at the weekend. A week once a year to sort bigger jobs like touching up paintwork decluttering shed/attic/other storage spaces, deep cleaning throughout etc.

Thanks both - I think the key is, bit at a time. Which makes sense as it’s rare I get a huge chunk of time.
i think it feels over whelming and unmanageable as unless OH clears out stuff it will never be organised properly.
But I do need to start somewhere!

I live in a two bed aswell. We tidy up down stairs every night before bed, wash up and put dishes away, all toys away and hoover living room. The upstairs gets slightly more neglected but I try and hoover twice a week and dust all the sils and furniture at the same time with a hoover attachment. A full decent clean usually takes me about 2-3 hours which probably gets done a couple of times a month. Im a chucker aswell i hate clutter
