Hi does ne1 know how to get bright feltip pen out of a cream carpet?

I tried to clean lipstick off a cream carpet using what I thought was a suitable product from John Lewis and ruined it. Although the lipstick colouring disappeared using the cleaning product, a few hours later the carpet bubbled up. We ended up having to claim on our insurance and replace the whole carpet, therefore I suggest you get professional carpet cleaners to advise. Good luck!

This happened to us this week - about 15ft of bright felt tip on light carpet, done by a normally sensible 4 year old.

Don't do what i did and dive in with a carpet cleaner spray - this just made lighter coloured streaks that look appalling.

Get the offending felt tip and draw on a muslin or other cloth, and do some tests on that. Felt tips are either water-based or not. Try getting some washing powder diluted in water and rub it into the streak with an old toothbrush and then try blotting it up . if not then I think something like turps may do it.
