Relatively new dishwasher not washing dishes properly

We replaced our dishwasher about 3 months ago but have now been finding that the dishes are still dirty even after doing the intensive wash. Am using all the right salt etc. Sometimes the tablet doesn't seem to be completely dissolved either. Does anyone have any ideas before I call the engineer out?

Check that the water feeds are not blocked in anyway - this happens alot when plumbing in and then moving the machine back and the pipes get squashed

Check the little holes on the rotating arms are all clear. MIL's holes got clogged up with rice, check the filters are in place and clear. Make sure their are no parts like filter cages still wrapped in original packaging or something.

Thanks, folks! Will have a look at all those!

I call someone out when our dushwasher wasn't washing very well after about the same length of time, we didn't realsie it needed to be cleaned as thouroughly as it did.

I never clean mine, the joys of soft water, do a hot intensive wash everynow and then, smae with washing machine.

nannyL · 18/01/2008 18:34

its not a hotpoint is it?

the same happend to us at my old job.... had dishwasher man out 3 times and each time reported it was fine, yet even on intensive setting, things may still be dirty 3 washes later...

in the end they have up bought another new dishwasher. (a john lewis one, which DOES clean stuff!)

are all the settings correct? Ours was so bad I wouldn't use it. Finally, got out book, checked hard water level in area and altered the settings to be compatible, also the amount of rince aid used. There were several such adjustments to be made, then checked all the water points (on spinning arm eg) and the waste flow. totally transformed the machine. It worked fine after. also what type detergent do you use? I find the 3-in-1 not as good as a normal standard tablet

chipmonkey · 18/01/2008 19:18

ernest, I don't think I'd know where to find the settings. Damn it, I'm going to have to RTFM, aren't I?
