How to stop men pestering while you tidy

How do you stop a brother, or any other man from pestering you when you just want to get on with housework? They just don't know how to stop sometimes and they keep nagging about other things. Particularly when those people do no housework themselves.

Move to the 21st century and insist they start doing their share.

alphapie · 16/07/2022 17:34

Tell them to fuck off?

This shirt some on MN put up with baffles me

FourTeaFallOut · 16/07/2022 17:35

Anyone around me while I'm doing a job gets a job. I find cleaning remarkably peaceful.

TheSpottedZebra · 16/07/2022 17:37

They just don't know how to stop sometimes

Of course they know, they just don't give a shit.

Saucery · 16/07/2022 17:38

“Pick up a bin bag/duster/vacuum cleaner or sod off”

pinkyredrose · 16/07/2022 17:39

Get them involved in tidying.

thistimelastweek · 16/07/2022 17:40

Why would you put up with pestering regardless of what you're doing?

MenAreNotWomen · 16/07/2022 17:47

They think I am doing something amazing today because I'm excited, I just need to smoke something now that was exhilarating to get some fucking washing done

Give them a job to do! There is no excuse for not lending a hand.

In the event they refuse, tell them to fuck off as previously mentioned.

LoveLarry · 16/07/2022 17:50

What?

P205 · 16/07/2022 17:51

LoveLarry · 16/07/2022 17:50

What?

I'm glad I'm not the only one!

Joyfulflowers · 16/07/2022 17:52

Hmm, think you've already smoked 'something'

DenholmElliot1 · 16/07/2022 17:52

I would deal with this by saying

"can you stop pestering me please? I'm busy cleaning".

Just out of interest OP - what do YOU think you should do?

Areil · 16/07/2022 17:54

Tell them to get handy and lift the hoover and get stuck in?

Spohn · 16/07/2022 18:01

What on earth are you talking about?

Try not to tolerate scummy misogynists, as a basic, bare minimum life choice.

Men can't handle not being the center of attention of the nearest woman. They don't exist unless a woman is responding to them. They're being needy and entitled.

Also, they get a thrill from admitting you when you're clearly busy. Makes them feel important. Crossing a taboo boundary knowing is exciting for most people. Think toddlers!

Women have empathy and generally don't do this sort of stuff. We take people at their word. Men see no as the beginning of the negotiation. You have to train them that your no is non-negotiable.

They're doing this to you to get your annoyed. Then I imagine they do their bullshit disclaimer that they didn't know you were busy because you kept responding to them (deflection) and why didn't you just say (ignoring female conditioning).

Woman aren't allowed to have anything for ourselves, even the contentment of completing laundry.

Work on your boundaries. Grey rock them. They know what they're doing, they'll lie and claim otherwise but they're doing it on purpose.

Justtryingtobehelpful · 23/07/2022 09:55

*annoying you
