Bubbling plug hole...also smelly

Hi
I have a sink and separate bath and shower in my bathroom. When I fill the sink up with hot water and then pull the plug it causes the bath plug to make a funny noise and bubbles come out if, there is also a horrid eggy smell! I have recently put drain cleaner/unblocker down all 3 plugs and removed and cleaned the U bend on the sink but hasn't helped! Any tips? Smile

Sounds like you’ve got a build up of sludge in there. Fill up both bath and basin with really hot water and lots of washing up liquid and then do both plugs at once and the overflows.

Open up the manholes outside your house and see if they are blocked. If so call your sewerage company.

I'll give that a go thank you!

One of the drain cleaners comes with a flexible plastic stick thing you stick down it and wriggle around to break up the sludge.

I have found it really helps.

I've got one which I used in the past and didn't find it much use but I'll go it another shot thank you

There's a water trap in the bath waste pipe that can dry out if the bath is rarely used. If you run the taps a bit it refills, which helps with the egg smell.

Ahh right! Thank you, yeah I don't use the bath often so could be an easy fix

I just did one of my sinks with Mr Muscle gel cleaner. It came in a double pack so I did what it said and used the whole massive bottle one one sink. Worked perfectly.

So then I thought I'd use the other bottle on the other two sinks while I was at it. Half a bottle each sink. Didn't work. And they weren't even blocked. Just black when I looked in.

The one with the whole bottle is gleaming!
