For some reason every place I have ever lived prior to this it has been on the left and I just thought that was a thing?! 🤷‍♀️

left

HappyPumpkin81 · 13/06/2022 18:36

Always been left in several houses.

Giveitall · 13/06/2022 18:37

Left.
It seems to be the plumbing standard.
In the case of an emergency & needing cold water & given that many people are right handed, they will go for the right hand tap for the cold water.

FAQs · 13/06/2022 18:38

Mine are all on the right.

FAQs · 13/06/2022 18:38

House is 15 years old if that makes a difference ?

newtb · 13/06/2022 18:41

My house drives me mad as the kitchen taps and the utility taps are reversed, and I can never bloody remember! My dad who I was moaning about this to said the standard fitting is supposed to be hot on left.

Raera · 13/06/2022 18:43

Left

CombatBarbie · 13/06/2022 18:45

Current house a mixture of both which is very annoying as the hot water gets asbestos hot and the cold water ice cold..... But it's a refurb and are all going on the left.

BelleNoir · 13/06/2022 18:50

Mines on the right

ofwarren · 13/06/2022 18:52

Left

Takingabreakagain · 13/06/2022 18:53

Left is the standard - my plumber told me it's so blind people know where it should be and don't accidentally burn themselves

husbandcallsmepickle · 13/06/2022 18:55

I was told they're usually on the left because most people are right handed so therefore less likely to turn it on accidentally. Have no idea if there's any truth in that.

SwissCheeseRentedChildren · 13/06/2022 18:56

Left for the kitchen sink, right for bath n basin.

Sharpkat · 13/06/2022 18:56

Mine have always been left. Most of my mum's are left apart from kitchen which is right. Always filling the kettle with hot water there.

BattenburgDonkey · 13/06/2022 18:58

Left in my kitchen, right in my bathroom. And you no I’d never noticed that until about 30 seconds ago, now I’m pretty sure it will annoy me forever.

FAQs · 13/06/2022 19:09

I’ve just had to walk upstairs now to bloody check and upstairs are on the left 🤷‍♀️ never really noticed before, I never noticed the difference, only lives her 15 years!

hellmannsnotheinz · 13/06/2022 19:11

Ha! Such an education tonight!
Didn't realise how conditioned I was to go fit left straight away until we moved!

For my whole life, on the left. Moved to the Isle of Wight and its on the right - as they seem to be in all friends houses, pubs, cafe, cinema...strange!
