Storage solutions - high shelves in wardrobe

I feel like I can’t be the only one with this problem! We in theory have a lot of storage as two bedrooms have large built in wardrobes. The hanging space is great and we’ve also put chest of drawers in some.

But I am stumped with the best way to store stuff on the high shelf that is above the full length wardrobe bit. It goes quite a way up above behind the wardrobe door (same height as the ceiling) which means can’t use little plastic drawer units as couldn’t open them.

Wondered about big plastic storage boxes stacked up but again they’d get caught on the top of the door.

Feel like their must be a clever solution to maximise the space. In the spare room just have camping stuffed in which means the space is full but it’s a get it all out at once type things.

Any clever mumsnetters with any genius ideas?

We use this space for sealed boxes of eg Christmas decorations and for suitcases. I think it's less about clever storage and more about thinking creatively about what can be stored there? You could get some zipped storage cases and put out of season clothes in them raised up into that space if you want to keep it to clothes?

These keep popping up on my insta - I’m going to get the smaller size for top of DDs wardrobe

What about those large bags like from IKEA? Like the Dimpa

Thanks for these suggestions! I think it’s going to be a combo of thinking carefully about what goes up there as @prisscalledwanda said and clever storage. Going to go and look at both storage options suggested!
