Washing machine grey splodges

My washing machine has started leaving grey splodges on cotton T-shirts. Only ever T-shirts and it looks like dye rather than a surface stain. I've run a self clean cycle with bicarbonate and vinegar, cleaned the draw and seals but to no avail. Does anyone have any idea what the cause could be?

Just to pre answer questions: I use smol pods, comfort softener and a colour catcher in each wash and usually use a 2hr 40 degree cycle.

When this happens with ours it's soap residue that's built up in the folds of the rubber seal around the door that then gets smudged on to clothes either during the spin cycle or when you take them out.

Take your soap drawer out and give it a good scrub to get rid of any build up, and give your door seals a really good clean with a soft damp cloth, right into the folds and round the seams.

Missed you saying you'd cleaned the seals, sorry! Any chance you've had a small bit of paper or card get into a load at some point? Card in particular seems to break down into tiny grey spotchy bits and take ages to get rid of.

Thanks for the reply! I've had the build up before and this isn't it - it looks as though dye has been flicked all over the tshirt. It only seems to affect 1 tshirt per load which is really weird - everything else comes out fine.

That's so weird. Are the pods ones with the little coloured bits of soap in them? I'm wondering if the pod is getting caught up in a t-shirt and the t-shirt is catching all the little bits and letting the rest of the load off without getting speckled.. ?
