how do I get blood out of velvet?

I run over my cat on friday and where I picked her up and took her straight to the vets, I got blood on my coat. How do I get it out?

id suggest taking it to the dry cleaners. blood is really hard to get out of normal fabric so im presuming its even harder on velvet.
