Labelling water bottle for school

How do I label DS1's school water bottle? Is there such a thing as a truly "permanent" pen (ie one that will withstand daily dishwashing, have tried 2 already and they fade within a day or two)? Or is there somewhere I can get cheap stick on labels? I can only find places where the minimum order is 50 and I only need 1! Or can I make labels???

sharpie pens are good, but they will wear off plastic after a week or so

Cheapest and easiest is permenant marker, yes you will have to renew it every now and then though but takes 2 seconds.

tippex is good for this.

dd has a water bottle which my dad bought, with her name down the side - think he got it from a motorway service station! I use that one for school.

Thanks - I know it's a quick job to rename with a pen, I'm just very lazy, and not sure I will be organised enough to find the permanent marker first thing in the morning trying to get 3 kids out of the door . Maybe should delegate water bottle management to DH...

a paper label and lots of sellotape can last a long time if you don't use a dishwasher

I bought my dd shoe labels from Cashs (google them) and you get tiny labels with them which are fine for water bottles/pencil cases etc. They come with a plastic cover. If it moves, I label it!

Or go to Woolworths and buy the appropriate named flask for about £4.99.

get some labels from easy2name (discount from MN!) They are very good and you'll need mopre than one at some stage surely? I put them on the lunchboxes, water bottles, book bags, shoes, PE bags etc

Thanks Bookwormmum. Didn't think of trying Cash's as thought they only did fabric ones. But £5.50 is the cheapest I've seen so far and I could at least use the shoe shaped ones too.

do the name, and then go over with clear nail varnish.

it doesn't last and last, but it does at least a term, if not two, on my kiddies cups.

Oh FGS it starts to fade gradualy so that will give you at least a week to find the pen, much easier and cheaper than ordering labels or faffing about with tape.

My DS goes to scout camps so everything gets done with a Sharpie Marker, thats from pants to cutlery, as it fades I write it again.

we just use water bottles from the supermarket anyway as they have to have clear bottles so noone sneaks squash into the classroom........

I use hospital transpore tape. You can stick it on and write on it in biro/perm pen. It doesn't come off in the dishwasher or the washing machine and you can write on it over and over again. its good for last minute labelling in things that don't have anywhere obvious to write.

The absolutely best solution

Has lasted a term at least in our house...

Lightly scratch the name into the plastic with a needle/knife. Then use a permanent marker. The ink will get trapped in the grove you have made so will fade much slower.

You can just top up with ink as necessart - in any case the scrathced name is always present
