Fridge containers?

I need to better organise my fridge, assuming most people have a 50/50 fridge freezer surely using containers take up more space than playing Tetris with everything you need in there?

Any other tips for keeping a neat and tidy fridge?

I’ve got a side by side.

I’ve got additional baskets in my salad/veg drawers. Also a basket for cheese/butter. One for packed meats (bacon/chorizo). All unopened stuff is stacked I. The baskets in date order. So newest at the back. Once opened I use the Lakeland stacking tubs for ham, opened cheese, leftovers.

I use similar baskets in the freezer for nugs/fishfingers/fries/frozen veg.

When I buy meat I usually buy larger packs then split and vac pac as it takes up less room in the freezer that way.

I use open containers. One for veggie items, one for meat items, one for little jars and one for butter. I have a basket inside the salad drawer for smaller items / herb etc.
My DH thinks I’m mad 😂

I would love a Home Edit style fridge! Haven’t ever taken the plunge on all the containers etc but there are loads on Amazon. Dh also thinks this is crazy and pointless.

I use containers because it means I don't have to clean the fridge as often. I bought some, but also use the punnets that mushrooms come in, clean them out, and stick them in the crisper drawers and use them to house fruit and carrots with a bit of water at the bottom.

I put cut up citrus fruits in there to keep a nice smell, and if I buy tea tree oil for cleaning I take the empty bottle and pop that in the fridge too.

I have many containers iin my fridge. They're the white tub things from IKEA. I have them in two sizes and am a bit rigid about what goes where. I have a lid storage rack for all packets of ham, bacon etc. One tub for cheeses, one for tomatoes, a large one for salad stuff and another large one for non normal veg. One shelf is for 'meat and things that need to be eaten'. My family do not obey my rules and I get very cross when I find things 3 weeks mouldy on the wrong shelf, but I suspect I won't win this battle til they all bloody move out.

I used to have them for everything in my fridge. I had some nice white ones from Ikea. Now I only have one that I use as a 'use up' box to prevent me wasting fruit and veg.

To be fair I'm not much help as I don't keep much in my fridge. Occasionally i'll buy a lot of produce but only to prepare meals and freeze them.

I would do what a PP said and use punnets from fruit and veg as then you're not paying double and wasting less plastic.
