Carpet Cleaning

Hi. I have two rooms that have carpet. I want some opinions on the best way to clean the two carpets without spending £100 on someone to come in. The carpets are only 18 months old so they’re not dirty but we looked after a dog for about two months and he had a couple of accidents. I cleaned up after him at the time but I feel I want the carpets deeper cleaned and freshened up. I could buy a cleaner but is it really worth it for just the two carpets? And do the carpets need shampooing or would steaming be best? Need some opinions please. Thank you.

You can rent a Rug Doctor at lots of places eg my local Tesco has them. But you'll probably get the best results from A Man with a very large machine 😁. If you're SW London I can recommend said Man

Thanks for your reply. I thought of Rug Doctor but the machines I’ve seen look grubby and it puts me off

If you want to put the effort in you can hand clean them with a cloth and a bowl of hot water and a bit of stain remover but it will take a lot of effort

Alternatively you could ask on olio if anyone has a vax or rug doctor you could borrow if none of your family or friends already own one

Thank you for your reply. I’ve decided to buy a steam mop. The carpets really just need a freshen up, no stains etc so steaming could be good.

I’m possibly a bit late on this discussion
however I don’t recommend shop hire carpet cleaners
they get hired out and dumped back for the next person without being cleaning or sanitised so the brushes that went over the last 10 carpets will be going over yours
it’s a false economy the cleaning fluid is a rip off and the works back breaking as well as soaking your carpets
i always recommend a professional the cleaning difference is night and day..
