A dustpan! A dustpan! My sanity needs a good dustpan!

The subject pretty much covers it... I am desperately seeking a dustpan that when you sweep the dust into it it actually goes in, rather than forming a line between the dustpan and floor.

Does anyone please have a recommendation?

It simply doesn't exist. There will always be a line. Which you then vacuum up with a tiny vacuum cleaner.

I find tilting the dustpan slightly does the job

LemonDrizzleCake11 · 26/05/2022 19:15

I appreciate there will always be a line but I'm look for more of a thin line rather than the majority of the stuff.... am sure I've had better ones in the past...

It simply doesn't exist. There will always be a line. Which you then vacuum up with a tiny vacuum cleaner.

And you then tip the contents of the tiny vacuum cleaner into the bin, only they have got stuck so you tap it and it all comes flying out and misses the bin, completely, so you fish out the dustpan and brush again...

The best one I ever had was a really cheap one from Asda. Unfortunately it was years ago and they've probably changed the design now.

We have a Vileda one now which is quite good.

Cornettoninja · 26/05/2022 19:39

Of no use to you but the best insult I ever saw on the internet was someone calling someone ‘the last line of dust that never goes on the dustpan’ Grin

Mamette · 26/05/2022 19:47

I have an oxo good grips one and it’s pretty good. It’s one of those long-handled ones.

SamMil · 26/05/2022 19:51

I have this one which is great:

Venusflytart · 26/05/2022 19:53

My guinea pigs love to eat that little rubber end of the dustpan so I am looking for a completely metal one. Anyone?

DockOTheBay · 26/05/2022 19:53

Another vote for the OXO good grips. I used a cheapo dustpan and brush at my mums the other day and the difference was really noticeable.

WakeWaterWalk · 26/05/2022 19:56

I'm still looking for a long handled version. My recent purchase was far too flimsy.

picklemewalnuts · 26/05/2022 20:08

My old long handled one was great, but I've not found one since. Sad.

MayorDusty · 26/05/2022 20:12

Another vote for Oxo.
Not mad about the hand broom but have had many and this is the best.

cottagegardenflower · 26/05/2022 20:16

I don't wear my glasses when I'm using the dustpan and brush, so I just don't see that line then.

come to that I do the same when dusting the house.

Doggydarling · 26/05/2022 20:27

I gave up looking for one and use a laminated crochet pattern instead, the pattern is, of course irrelevant but there's always one lying around, I laminate the use I use constantly and can recommend for picking up dust.

Full marks for thinking outside the box Grin

allboysherebutme · 26/05/2022 22:31

Oxo good grips. X

Sortilege · 26/05/2022 22:33

I have the oxo one and also a good boxy metal one from Amazon. Both handy in different ways.

Beenthere123 · 26/05/2022 22:34

vileda is alright

Alphabet1spaghetti2 · 26/05/2022 22:37

I’ve recently bought one from b and m. It both long and short handled and has a rubber, very thin, edge strip. It doesn’t leave a crumb behind. Think it was around £10.

butimjayigetaway · 27/05/2022 20:50

Get a desktop vacuum instead and just suck up the mess. They are brilliant for whizzing round skirtings and floors before you do the mop. Then I go over with the hoover on the laminate setting.

Side spills, vacuum.
Ashtray spill, vacuum.
etc.

Ferngreen · 27/05/2022 21:00

I've got one of these ........ but I think you'd have to go to the States to get it.
