I have a Dyson cordless - the suction is a bit rubbish . I have dogs and they are allowed on sofas ( shoot me now ) Can anyone tell me which is the best cordless vacuum they have with the best suction. DH says he has read Miele

Any advice appreciated

I got the Shark anti hair wrap cordless last year.

Am v enthusiastic about it.

statetrooperstacey · 25/05/2022 16:00

I have a shark cordless , the one for pet hair and it’s bloody brilliant ! A bit precious on other things but for hair it’s fab. However , nothing beats a dry rubber washing up glove for deferring upholstery.

statetrooperstacey · 25/05/2022 16:01

Yes that’s the one , the anti hair wrap.

nearlyspringyay · 25/05/2022 16:03

Vax blade pet.

Ilikewinter · 25/05/2022 16:04

I too am a Shark convert but ive opted for corded.

Cottagepieandpeas · 25/05/2022 16:04

Agree with the Shark praise.

Get yourself a pet hair removal tool - it’s a life changer! I’ve got 2 cats and no amount of hoovering gets all their fur out. Bought a tool from Amazon and do a quick once over before hoovering and voila! Hair free furniture!

Which dyson model do you have op? My mum has an older one and it's useless.
I have the v15 and it's much better, power wise.

BasiliskStare · 25/05/2022 16:45

@catfunk Catfunk can't see the model number but it is at least 8 years old - purple and orange. Hate the bugger - it will graciously pick up some dust but then runs out of battery. I will investigate the V15 - Thank you

@Soontobe60 thank you will be investigating that - I have tried lint rollers but maybe they weren't good enough - but thank you for seeing my point I will look

So to all who have replied - thank you very much . I have a corded Dyson DC39 and that is a similar age and is fine - actually quite good but my house is small but on different levels so the plug in one it too heavy for me to hoik up the stairs but works brilliantly in the kitchen . sitting room a floor above.

Shark definitely seems like a look & also Vax

Very very much appreciated , Basilisk

Thank you to @Cottagepieandpeas @Ilikewinter @Soontobe60 @statetrooperstacey @ouch321 @nearlyspringyay

From doing my our hoover related research the opinions on sharks is really polarised. People seem to either adore them or hate them. Complaints I've seen have been the weight (too heavy) and the anti hair wrap not working. Not sure whether this affects cordless or not. Might be worth doing a search of hoover recommendation threads on here.

Bonfirenight · 27/05/2022 09:27

I hated my shark! It was corded. Utterly useless. The hand held attachment had barely any suction, the whole thing had to be taken apart numerous times to unblock when it was something so small it shouldn’t have blocked it in the first place. Terrible on hardwood floor. I ended up skipping it and going back to my Henry. I am still on the look out for a good one. I wish we could go back to the old size motors. Hoovers are terrible nowadays. I remember when hoovers used to lift the carpet up they were so powerful!

Bonfirenight · 27/05/2022 09:28

Oh and forever cutting hair out of the anti hair wrap roller 🙄 biggest let down ever!

BasiliskStare · 27/05/2022 20:41

Shock - have ordered a cordless shark - we shall see @Bonfirenight - did it before I saw your post - can someone for the love all that it lovely invent a lightweight vacuum with good suction. It is all I ask 😄
I shall report back

This one! Love it. No more unblocking dog hair from the hose with a metal skewer.

Shark

butimjayigetaway · 27/05/2022 20:46

We got a Vax Blade, husband so proud. It's crap. No suction, its one job.

He got a corded Shark. The cord can be a pain but the fact it works makes up for it.

I love it. Very happy. Would recommend.

Losing the cord is not worth losing the suction.
