Miele washer

Absolute first world problem, but it's really bloody annoying!!

Bought ourselves a new washer, after years of having an annoying AEG, treated ourselves to a Miele - but flipping heck is it slow?!!

I've been home from the school drop off for 25 mins. The time on the wash had finished, yet I'm still waiting for the door to unlock?! So the washer lies to me, tells me I'm doing an 1.5 hour wash, but really it's 2.

Bastard.

Anyone else have the same gripe? Anything I can do to quicken it up?!

Miele are slow because they are energy efficient. My 40 deg mixed wash takes just under 2 hours, cottons 60 3.5 hours. Mine unlocks when it finishes though

You should be able to unlock the door yourself - what does the manual say?

dementedpixie · 28/04/2022 09:06

Once my wash is finished it can be opened within 1 minute. Have you got the child lock on or something?

Mindymomo · 28/04/2022 09:06

I need a new washing machine but from what I’ve read new machines that run a half load take longer and machine works out how long wash should take. My hotpoint at the moment takes 1 hr 30 minutes on a 40 wash, don’t really want a wash that takes any longer.

My Miele unlocks immediately ! maybe there is a glitch in yours.

Ooh so it is just me?! I'll have a look for a child lock setting, thanks! I love the washing machine generally, quiet, washes well, well spun (cutting down on drying time). It's just the lock that drives me nuts. I can no longer get two loads out drying before I leave for work like I used to be able to

Mine also unlocks immediatley - one of the things I love about it. Mine's quite old now though. I'm dreading having to eventually replaces it with one that takes much longer to do a wash.

Definitely investigate the manual. I was driven bonkers by my new Zanussi at first, when I googled I found TWO ways to override the child lock. So simple, as usual with me it was user error!

bigbluebus · 28/04/2022 11:22

I don't have a Miele but a Siemens. I find the delay on the lock at the end frustrating - especially when the machine has just told me it's got 2 minutes until end which then suddenly jumps to 4 mins!
I've found that once the machine has stopped spinning, if I turn the program dial to off and then immediately on to a new program (as if I'm going to start the machine up again) then the lock releases in a couple of seconds rather than the 2 minutes that it usually takes. Don't know if that works on a Miele though!

My Miele switches itself off when it's finished if you've left it a while so you have to press the on button again and then unlock the door

Fresh01 · 29/04/2022 17:24

To open the door on my Miele soon after it stops you have to press the Start button to unlock the door but if you wait over 30mins the door would just be unlocked.
