How to clean a candle jar

How do you clean a candle jar? I want to keep the label nice so I can store pens in it. Do you just mop up the remaining wax at the bottom while it's still a bit warm?

Will the label come off in water? If not then float it in hot water and pour off the wax when it melts.

I've usually boiled the kettle and poured it in the jar, then rinse and repeat until the wax has melted

Fill it with boiling water and leave it to go cold. The wax will melt then go solid on the top of the water and you can just pick it up and get rid of it. Make sure the water level comes up past the narrowest point if it's a funny shape or the disc of wax will get stuck.

Put it in the freezer and the wax Comes out in a solid lump and can go in the bin. If you melt it in water and pour down the drain, it could clog your drain

As an aside, I wish they wouldn't make candle jars/tins so wide - so much wax is wasted.

Multi-wicks are better (but £££££) and I saw something online to re-melt the wax using foil but that just looked like a massive fire hazard.

Sulk.
