That is not good news. I had 2 boxees delivered yesterday with a canvas wardrobe and chest of drawers in it that I was hoping would take dh an hour or so to build on Saturdday- guess not then!

tyaca · 10/01/2008 11:07

hehe... these are more than a bit of a mare. me and DH together took a couple of hours. my top tip is to sort all the bits out first and keep a keen eye out of dif screw sizes that are marginally dif in size but bugger stuff up royally if wrong. gl

i have so far got the whole lot up to the required room.

have you all been argos shopping then!!

I am really (sadly) excited about the fact that dd's toys and crap will be put away tho.

My dad is coming over after work to help, but I just rang him and said, 'i betterm ake a start dad' other wise you will be here till sunday.

It doesn't look like it wil be a great bonding exercise tbh!!!

oh blimey.!!

You need my DH. The only human being that can always make anything from a flat pack really well in record time with no swearing or throwing of hammers

But you can't have him.

ChippyMinton · 10/01/2008 11:40

Hope you have an electric screwdriver. Make sure you have engough space to lay it all out to work on.
Can I come and do it? I love making up flatpacks

Haylstones · 10/01/2008 11:48

You can come and do mine! I got mine from Littlewoods as we finally realised that this baby will actually arrive pretty soon and we have nowhere to put everything in the nursery, hence everything still being in the loft/garage. I've just over 6 weeks left,do you think dh will have finished by then?

ChippyMinton · 10/01/2008 12:22

Haylstones, with both DS2 and DD I went into labour a few hours after assembling some ikea furniture. Tis my top tip for getting things moving!!

Haylstones · 10/01/2008 12:33

Hmmm, I'm definitely not ready for that so will leave it to dh. Alternatively, I could CAT you my address?m

i think after that i should be on the next new years honours list.

3 hrs it took.

A nightmare by yourself, but I am pragmatic and was determined, and ignoring the migraine just carried on !!! Its trying to get the structure that was the hardest, without 5 ft bit of wood flailing all over the place!! An electric screw driver would have been good yes, but the allen key and me are now aquainted, almost related even.

it looks great and the toys are off the floor and going in a treat.

phew!!!
