Should I ask cleaner how long she needs to clean my home?

Hello- this might be a really daft question but I've only had a cleaner once and I didn't really use her effectively so want to avoid the same mistakes with my new cleaner. Should I ask her how long she needs to clean my home? Or should I just decide myself how many hours I want? My last cleaner I set her 4 hours a fortnight and she couldn't get a thorough clean done in that time so first I wondered if I just hadn't given her enough hours.... but then she started leaving early after I'd already paid for the full 4 hours so I'm nervous about paying for too many hours upfront this time and having the new cleaner take the piss iyswim. So how do I approach this so I get a nice thorough clean without paying for excessive hours? Also is a fortnightly clean better or weekly?

For reference I have a large house with 5 double bedrooms, 3 bathrooms (one of these has a large tub and separate shower cubicle), a downstairs toilet, medium sized kitchen and pantry, utility and 2 living rooms. All hard floors downstairs. TIA x

My cleaner came to assess and discuss my needs, and then quoted me how many hours she'd need to do what I wanted doing

They usually tell you how many hours it would take to clean your house thoroughly and with your description I feel it would be more than 4 hours fortnightly.
I have 4 bedroom house, (2 bedrooms only used occasionally as at Uni) only one bathroom, with separate shower cubicle, kitchen, utility, living/dining room, all hard floors downstairs.
I have 2 cleaners for 2 hours fortnightly and they can’t do it all and have to alternative prioritise certain rooms, for instance conservatory gets left occasionally.
They both work like trojans as I’ve been there wfh while they clean but I can’t afford more hours, so it is what it is.

Cleaner here op. I would say 4 hours every week. Possibly to include a couple of windows each week.

Thanks all! This really helps. I had a feeling 4 hours fortnightly wasn't enough but then when my last cleaner started leaving early before the 4 hours were up that got me worried about adding more hours. I'll let this new cleaner assess and quote first but will expect something along the lines of 4 hours a week or 8 a fortnight.
