Fridge freezer- Miele v Bosch

We’re replacing our fridge freezer. Our favourites are Miele and Bosch.

Whilst I’m happy to pay Miele prices for a dishwasher and a washing machine, somehow I’m not for a fridge freezer. But DH is keen.

Can anyone tell me if Miele is really worth double the price?

I've never bought Miele anything but I've had Bosch and Siemens dishwashers and washing machines. When it comes to fridges or freezers I've always gone on capacity and layout of the inside rather than brand. I've had/have Hotpoint and Beko - and so far they've never let me down. The Hotpoint fridge and freezer in my kitchen are 18 years old and still going strong. I wouldn't touch either Hotpoint or Beko for a washing machine or dishwasher though! My point being I've never found the need to pay top wack for refrigeration - but then I've never had one with extras such as ice makers/drinks dispensers.

Thank you @bigbluebus. We’ve actually had a Hotpoint for 6 years and we’ve never liked it. But the Bosch under counter ones we gave to MIL when we moved house are still going strong after 12 years.

I agree- top whack for refrigeration seems unnecessary.

Oddly I was reading overnight an article in The Express on my phone about white goods. It basically said work out the cost of running whatever white good e.g. fridge-freezer you buy over a typical life span and not just buy on the price. In some cases it is cheaper to spend a bit more as you get the cost back within a few years.

BTW my current fridge freezer is a Bosch.

I would second layout and energy rating...we currently have a bosch and it works fine is AA but the layout is rubbish....but I bought in hurry so my fault!

My friends miele much better and feels sturdier but I also want quiet as in open plan and think the bosch was ...none of the cheaper brands were as quiet/big/low energy

Just asked hubby, he mends different brands of white goods etc, he says the Miele is better made than Bosch this is why it's more expensive
