Anyone know how to get permanent marker off plastic?

I am hoping somebody wise will be able to advise me how to get permanent marker (or felt pens that behave like permanent marker) off a plastic table? Nothing I have tried so far has worked.
Thanks in advance!

Colour over it with a dry wipe marker then wipe off.

I know if you accidentally use a sharpie on a whiteboard you can then write over the sharpie in a whiteboard pen and it all comes off. Might be worth a try?

Not sure about plastic but hairspray gets rid of permanent marker on clothes. Worth a try?

Lalala1 · 14/04/2022 22:19

Have you tried hairspray? Tiny spray on a cotton ball/soft cloth and gently rub

Magic eraser is pretty good at lifting sharpie marks

Yes, this

Try using a rubber? It worked on my bath

DrMadelineMaxwell · 14/04/2022 22:22

Perfume sprayed on then wiped off. Or hand sanitiser.

BruceAndNosh · 14/04/2022 22:23

Hand sanitiser got Sharpie off my worktop

Alcohol? A good hand sanitiser might work. Or nail varnish remover, but that might damage the table.

Heartofglass12345 · 14/04/2022 22:53

Hand sanitiser usually works Smile

Surgical spirit

Nail varnish remover

Thank you all for all of the responses I will try them all today and let you know if any of them worked! They are all things I haven’t thought to try, so thank you for all of the ideas.

@Wavingnotdrown1ng

Nail varnish remover
BE CAREFUL If the Nail Varnish Remover is acetone it may damage your plastic table.

I had plenty of hand sanitiser in the house so used that first and it worked perfectly! I would never have thought to try that. Thanks everyone for your tips.

@OneSugar1 my DC has permanent marker on her clothes too - how do you apply the hairspray to remove it? Do you spray it then rub it until it comes off? Or do you use it like almost a pre-wash thing?

Hairspray.
