Enamel finish turned yellow

Whilst having a declutter today, I decided to unpack some gifts that I’d put away ages ago. One of them is a white company silver and enamel jewellery box. The finish on the top which was a creamy white is now sunshine yellow. It has been stored out of sunlight in tissue paper in a box. It has never been used and is pristine aside from this issue. Is the lack of light the issue? Like white gloss paint that goes yellow? This isn’t just a tinge, full buttercup!
It has a little paper ticket inside with the price. T says it is lacquered and tarnish resistant. I can’t return it, it’s been here for ages.
Can I get it white again? If not, I’ll use it but stick in a cupboard.

Might be the acid from the tissue paper. Bright sunlight might bleach it back to white. Or maybe a weak bleach solution?
