I hate cleaning, I also don’t have the time for it and I’m not good at it. I’m having a brand new bathroom put in and I’m trying to decide what to go for that will make it easy and quick to clean. Hubby keen for fully tiled walls and floor (thinking dark grouting). How can I design it so it’s easy to keep clean? I’m thinking a built in bathtub will be easier to keep clean than a freestanding tub? Any suggestions? :)

I've never regrouted, didn't even know that was a thing.

Clean the grout with the steam cleaner attachment. Seems fine. Though I do have dark grout.

Don't get a fixed shower head at all - even if you have a little detachable head with it, the fixed heads are still a total bugger to clean, they get clogged with limescale so easily and are just a total pain in the arse!

No sliding doors in a shower cubicle, absolute bane of my life! Basically, as Pp said, as few nooks and crannies as is humanly possible. Wall hung stuff, or at least where it is complete flush against the wall.

Grout is OK if it's dark - it doesn't have to be black, a light grey is dark enough to hide the dirt.

No flat chrome surfaces where limescale can develop - we had a flat tap and as soon as you touched it water just pooled on it and left marks.

Interesting to note, we lived here for 20 years, with an old fully tiled (80's pale pink, lovely) bathroom, think I cleaned the grout twice in that time. Not dirty, or mouldy, or anything! Is that because we have a water softener?? Or maybe, we just have a well ventilated space, the bathroom is quite big, so that probably helps.

Anyway, we now have a part tiled, large dark grey tile, grey grout. Which looks lovely.
