Carpet cleaning- does RugDoctor remove urine smells?

My partner and I are in the middle of sorting his mum's house out after a fall last Friday.

She was on the floor for at least 24 hours and had obviously wet the carpet around her. Given she was wearing incontinence pants and from the smell of her chair, it seems she may have been struggling with leaks for a while.

While she is in hospital we would like to take the opportunity to clean the carpets properly (as well as getting her a new chair) to get rid of the urine smell and because they are filthy.

Does anyone know whether the RugDoctor you can hire from Tesco would be sufficient for this? Or are we best looking to get a professional steam cleaner person in?

The aim is to get the house to a state that a weekly/bi weekly cleaner can manage it in order to keep her at home

I don’t want to sound rude, please forgive me, but I believe rug doctor have a pets solution which says it breaks down urine crystals.

From a dog owner's perspective, I agree with the previous poster. You need a solution that will break down the urine proteins, namely aimed at pet owners. I hope that your MIL is recovering well.
