Charging station

I'm looking for a way to organise the chargers for the various phones, tablets, headphones that the kids use. The wires laying around are driving me mad!

Do any of you have a nice neat charging station or charging area? I'm desperate for inspiration!

I'm not sure mine would be described as neat thanks to DH's impatience and pulling of the wires but I got a 10 gang extension and put it in our least used room (dining room). I've labelled all the plugs and put the leads in cable ties to try to avoid them tangling. I have an Alexa reminder to switch it on in the morning and off in the evening. It has phone chargers, earphone, ring doorbell, battery, iPad/tablet etc set up. We find it really useful as we know where all the chargers are etc the only issue is the wires becoming tangled.

I have the chargers for fit bit, headphones, phone etc all in a box under 2 little used double sockets in my kitchen, so switch them out/can find what I need (I don't charge in the box, its just next to the sockets so all the chargers are in there)

As you say you hate the wires:

  • you can get lidded boxes to cover the plugs in a 4-plug extension socket (mine was from amazon for £15, use it for the tv/router etc wires which look a mess) - these are designed for this so fire safe etc
  • or a 'charging pad' which you charge & put phones/ipads on top

As this is for your kids, I would look for a piece of furniture with a drawer, near a socket: chargers in draw, a large shallow sided box/tray with sides that you can charge in. Cables feed through the 'hand hole' in sides of tray, tray on top of the chest of drawers etc. This is what I do when we stay in holiday apartments (to avoid having a million UK to EU chargers mainly, & to keep it tidy!)

Cordless charger, sockets with built in charging points, adapter with plug and charging point.

Mine are in a Christmas hamper type basket with a lid and side holes for handles.

The extension lead sits inside the basket. I use extra long chargers so they can be pulled out when the dc are playing on devices that need charge. Everything gets tidied into the basket and the lid closes on the mess.

I unplug it at night because it’s probably a fire hazard, and the dc whinge because either their devices aren’t charged or they’re tangled.

I’m placemarking for a better solution.

Thanks all, lots to think about!

I was thinking about some kind of trolley like this

Using the bottom for charging, and the other trays for headphones, etc. but I'm not sure it will really help make things look neater.

I would give it a go as trolleys are always useful to have. Maybe something with higher sides so the clutter inside is less on show?

What I about one of those IKEA plywood drawers?
Drill holes into, feed
Wires through. Place near socket.
