Bosch VarioDrawer Dishwasher

Need to get integrated dishwasher for new kitchen. Have always had Bosch but can see some of the new models have a VarioDrawer for cutlery rather than a basket on the bottom shelf.

Can anyone tell me the advantages of the VarioDrawer? Can it only go on the top and, if so, does it get in the way of wineglass stems?

We've got one of these, I hate it. Wineglasses and pint glasses don't fit on the top rack and they aren't stable enough on the bottom, so have to be washed by hand. The drawer is actually really annoying because unlike a basket it can't be removed and taken to the cutlery drawer, so you have to go backwards and forwards.

The icing on the cake is that the integrated door is a total pig to fit - our fitter spent six hours in total on it and it's still not right. I had to get replacement fixings from Bosch (twice, as they sent me the wrong ones the first time).

Thanks @DorothyBinns. I found an old thread where people were divided 50:50 but we always take the basket out and the kids then put the cutlery away so will def get another basket one.

Yes, I hate our cutlery tray Bosch. If you have the cup rack down to get tall glasses in then you can't get 12" plates in the bottom rack. Fiddly to fill compared to a basket, doesn't get cutlery as clean as a basket and the extra space in the bottom rack doesn't make much difference to what you can fit in there.

I like it! The cutlery gets cleaner than it does in the basket, and not having a basket means more space on the lower level.

The height of the next drawer down is easily adjustable, and it's rare that the combination of things being washed makes it impossible to fit what I need below it.

You can also fit things other than cutlery in the tray - tupperware lids, silicon cupcake cases etc.
