Oil Stains on Wooden Floor

Does anyone know the best way to remove oil stains from brushed and oiled engineered oak flooring?

We have brand new flooring in our kitchen which is turning out to be alarmingly porous. DH, as a once in a blue moon event, cooked dinner last week and seems to have spilt olive oil on the floor and then walked in it so that oil patches and footprints are over an area about one square metre by the hob.

Mopping with soapy products has made no difference. Apart from making DH sleep outside in disgrace, and buying a rug, is there anything I can do?

Have you tried scrubbing it with washing-up liquid?! Also, it might be worth wiping it with protective oil - the wood retailer will probably sell suitable oil.

Thank you @viewoftree - yes, I have tried washing up liquid. I thought about oiling it but I wasn't sure if it would kind of 'set' the stain in and make it look even worse. I also thought about getting the affected boards replaced, but as the floor runs under the new kitchen cabinets, it's probably not that easy to do.
