Washing machine seems to leak on one programme only and not every time ... !

Morning all and hoping @PigletJohn may read!

My cheap crap washing machine, about 7 years old seems to leak from somewhere under the front left side but only when I do a hot wash (runs for an hour) and not every time.

At first I thought it was the bubbles from the detergent coming back up to the draw and leaking out there and running down as if noticed some liquid coming down a while ago.

Any ideas? It's so odd how it's only occasionally this particular program (normally use a 30 degree one which runs for about 40 mins and it never happens on that.

Or is it just protesting at having to clean DHs farty pants?!😁

it might be bubbles rising up. Take out the drawer and watch it.

Do you use washing soda crystals? What volume of powder do you add?

A hot wash will tend to dissolve old soap sludge resident in the tub. If you have white cotton towels, put them in on your hottest wash, with no powder of fabsoft and half a cup of soda.

Likely it will foam up amazingly as it dissolves soap residue out of the tub and the towels, and they will come out whiter and softer than before.

So pleased you saw this! Right I shall watch it and remove the draw and see what happens next time .. for this wash I use non bio liquid about 50ml tops.

I don't use fabric softener on this wash but do on others. Regularly clean machine on a service programme with a cup of soda crystals.

Towels aren't white but could I use soda crystals to wash with instead of detergent?

Regards it being the bubbles ... the puddle seems quite big for it to be them, I put down a folded tea towel after to mop up and whilst it's not sopping wet it's pretty damp?

the soda crystals and hot water dissolve the resident soap residue, so you don't need to add powder or liquid

the advantages of using white cotton towels for a hot hot hot wash are, it doesn't matter if they fade, and they still fit you even if they shrink.
