Full or empty dishwasher

Hi all,

We are a family of 4, most days my dishwasher is 90% full so I run a cycle in the evening.

I wash saucepans, casserole dishes by hand.

Do you run a cycle every day even if the machine is not 100% full or do you wait and only run when it is full? I'm not sure what to do????

Any thoughts

Two of us fill a slimline dishwasher each day. I do my saucepans and Pyrex casseraloes in it. Any spaces are filled with the dogs' bowls.
@Ethelswith. Which slimline one do you have & what do you think of it? If I get one, it'll have a top tray for cutlery.
I had a Miele which I utterly loved and which lasted about 22 years.

Couldn't stretch to the purchase price this time round and have a Bosch.

Both have top trays for cutlery. The Miele layout was simpler and more versatile. The Bosch takes forever to turn a load - the eco option is over 3 hours and the expresss is an hour

@GoodnightJude1

Ours is always full every evening so I put it on when we go up to bed. I wash saucepans (wooden handles) and wine glasses by hand. If it wasn’t full because we’d been out for dinner or something I’d leave it till it was full…which would usually be the next morning.
@GoodnightJude1 unless you stay awake until the cycle is finished it's really inadvisable to run appliances like dishwashers at night as there is a big fire risk.

We run it most days, but there's 2 adults and a 3.5 Yr old, he goes through more dishes and cups that me in a day!!

I try best and get it 100% full, but I won't put it on unless its at least 75% full
