Tumble dryer

Hi! I hope this is an ok place to post/ask this question.

So I moved into a new flat where there is no reasonable space to put a clothes airer but there is a tumblr dryer. In my experience tumblr dryers always shrink the clothes though. The weather is improving so I can hang the clothes outside sometimes but I can't rely on that method because of the inevitable rain that happens here in Ireland no matter the season. So my question is how do I use the tumblr dryer without my clothes shrinking? There has to be a way because otherwise no one would buy them surely?

My tumblr dryer doesn't seem to have a low heat mode btw but I could be wrong

@rosy16

Airers come in all shapes & sizes. I'm sure you could get a couple of a suitable size to put somewhere?!

I know it's annoying to constantly have washing drying, but I hate dryers, so I don't have one!

They do shrink things like t shirts, PJ's etc.

Things take ages to dry & you have to be ready to take things out as it finishes or you end up with properly creased clothes.

I always tumble dry bedding, towels, jeans, underwear etc

T shirts and lighter stuff always go on the line/heated aided/radiator

Never shrunk anything except DPs new jumper once but only cos it went in the dryer by accident Blush

I tumble dry everything on a low heat and nothing's shrunk (except one item that shouldn't have been tumble dried oops!).

I find it's quite hard to work out what setting is what heat. It so ridiculous really it should be made super obvious. It wasn't even clear from reading the manual! I complained about how unclear it was to the manufacturer but obviously got no reply!!

Anyhow.....on mine "cottons" is high heat and "synthetics" is low heat. You can also do even lower heat with delicates and delicates plus.

Thank you! It's not clear at all! I read the manual and there was a bunch of stuff/symbols in it that didn't apply to my model at all which just confused me even more. All I have on mine is a timer, but it says I should use a 50 minute cycle for synthetics. Am I to assume less time equals less heat? That doesn't sound right to me. I wish there was a 'low heat' button I could just press :(
