To fix or not to fix energy

Hi

I am with Eon and have had my renewal notice , been fixed the last year. Their cheapest fixed tariff is exactly the same as their variable. How do I compare with the price cap? Do I fix? Martin Lewis says no but if the Ukraine crisis means higher prices, and the expected hike in October why wouldn't I? Any advice? TIA

These are the price cap rates from April. How do your fixed rates compare?

If the fix is the same as the new cap I'd be tempted to fix, particularly if there are no exit fees
