Anyone suggest a good light for my ds?

I need a lamp/light to go in 18 mn ds room. I want it to be quite dim so i can use it for bedtime storys and also if he wakes up in the night. Dont just want normal night light as no good. NEeds to be something that will last couple of years until he wants to decorate the room!

You could put a very low wattage bulb in any table lamp style light.

What sort of style were you thinking of? Specifically a childrens one?

I love my fading light (bought it from JoJo Maman just after ds was born, he's now 2 and a half). Will look up the make in a min, but don;t know how to do links! It's very plain, but you can easily alter the brightness, and there's a fading button, so that you can leave the room with the light on, and it slowly fades off over time, hopefully your ds will be asleep before it's totally off, mine used to say 'oh dear!' when it went off completely, bless him!

My DS has got a normal bedside lamp but I just put a night light bulb in it so I can leave it on all night. Its a bit smaller than a normal bulb and about 7w I think, they don't get hot either. I get them from Asda or local hardware shop. they aren't very bright but give out just enough light if he wakes in the night to go to the toilet .

we just bought the digger lamp in the next sale for £7 its just about bright enough to read by and dim enough to sleep to. it has rotating diggers on it. its a bit plasticy but ds seems to like it and for £7 (came with spare bulb too) it was a bit of a bargain.

I have just bought this for my DD. They are gorgeous as a night light - maybe not bright enough if it's your only lamp.

Get a standard 'touch lamp'. No characters so it will last years but they tend to have 3 settings - dim, a bit brighter, normal.

When your child is older they'll be able to turn the light on themselves.

My DD (3.9) loves hers and she had it from about age 2.

You can get them everywhere....idea is they dont have a 'switch' and you touch the base to turn off/on

i have a touch lamp, from b&q its ace. got it for night feeds but now use it for checking on kids at night etc.

didnt think about that! I have one in my room. Only thing is when you have it on lowest setting when you want to turn it off you have to press it twice which takes it through the med and bright setting. Any out there that doesnt happen?!

That happens with ours too but you get used to doing it very quickly
