I'm going to paint the nasty pine doors in our house. They're beyond staining or trying to treat nicely. All our skirting boards and door frames are currently proper white but I don't want that on the doors. Would prefer something off whitey antiquey type colour.

Am I misled?

Or just very boring?

Can you recommend one you used?

I have done mine mostly "normal" white - dh hates it when I paint them a different colour! Will you paint the skirtings and door frames to match - think it might look odd if you didn't unless the doors were a lot different...

Where mine are not white I have used F&B off-whites but have also done the skirtings and frames the same...

PeachesMcLean · 31/12/2007 16:25

Well I thought they might look odd if it didn't all match but the doors are more prominent, so I'd like them in a decent shade, if you know what I mean. And maybe in about five years we'll get round to doing the skirting the same.

F&B is v expensive isn't it. Does it go on nicely?

Won't off-white doors look "dirty" ?

fizzbuzz · 31/12/2007 17:35

Surely they will look dirty next to bright white door frames and skirts...

I've just had my front door and gate painted a really nice grey - very stylish - might work for interior doors/woodwork too

F&B is brilliant - never want to use anything else again (except maybe Dulux kitchen and bathroom in those rooms). Doesn't stink, and really looks expensive. Really nice to paint with too - goes on like a dream. Actually think this works out good value as in this life you get what you pay for. Also can get it in small tins.
Recently painted front door a lovely F&B grey (exterior eggshell) and have had so many compliments.

that sounds like mine Coffee ! get lots of compliments
