Do you use home connect?

Just got a new dishwasher which is able to be connected to home connect. Is it worth doing this? I mean, I'll have to be here to load it, so why do I need an app? Or will it e.g. send me a message when it's finished?

Yes I use it with my Samsung washing machine.

I thought it was gimmicky but turns out I love it!

My watch and phone alert me when the cycle is done, so I leave the notification unopened until I can unload the machine.

You might want to load it but run it later.

For example if you are on an electricity tariff that is much cheaper in overnight hours, it is sensible to load it after dinner but not have it run until midnight. You can schedule it with the app and be reminded of it to unload when finished in the morning.

I use it with my ovens. Love it!

You may have seen the news stories today that Octopus Energy will pay customers to avoid using power in a two hour period in the day (almost always the evening).

Home connect will allow you you load and set the dishwasher up and then get it to run outside this time, for the example, so you can get paid for avoiding the peak demand time.
